Type around Manchester

Whilst taking photographs of locations for a group project I got a little sidetracked and ended up spending hours looking for great typography around town. Some beautiful engravings.

The Pier

Our exhibition based around the seaside containing work from Term one of Year two work. A lot of organising but it all came together in the end.

Ian Anderson Brief

We were given a brief to rename The Designers Republic's Ian Anderson and had to produce a poster informing prople of the change. Afet reading some interviews I got the impression that he was an outspoken and extroverted individual, I decided to call him Greg Arious. Gregarious means outgoing, sociable and extrovert so i felt that this fitted in well with his personality.
The theme and design of the poster is based upon 80's futuristic design which the designers republic tried to use in their early work.

Stonewall Design Competition

Group Project with Phoebe Sing
We wanted to create a design that would engage the audience on a more personal level rather than simply have them looking at another clinical corporate design. To achieve this we used created our type in letterpress and gave them a message to think about. It has been printed on a heavy weight Grandee paper to help achieve a more aesthetically pleasing and non clinical piece. The idea behind the content is based around the MP's Expenses Scandal which outraged the public and drew a lot of attention to the government, reminding the public of this will encourage them to go and have there say in politics.

New Restriction Layouts

Trying out the new styled layouts but using the letterpressed type as oppose to digital.
Some new layouts for my restriction project. Based around the arguament of how life on earth began and using images that I had taken from the Smithsonians in D.C.
