Exites

Designer Simon Page has a rich portfolio of great posters ranging from films to celebrating the official year of chemistry. I love the simplicity of his designs yet they still connect on many levels with the audience.

prebook

As the Central library is being refurbished I decided that as part of the project that I would rebrand it. The Logo is based on the iconic circular structure of the library and the opening of a book.

I have screen printed my main poster onto book cloth to emphasise the idea of the films being based on books. The print worked really well and gives a great personal feel to the poster.

Some ideas for my film event project. Prebook is a season of films based on novels and is intended to celebrate the relationship between film and book. The Manchester Central Library is currently closed for refurbishment and this would be perfect for part of a reopening festival and could be held in the theatre in the basement.

Birdemic poster

A quick poster for the don't panic brief to design a poster for the new cult film Birdemic. The idea of bombardment from above is conveyed through the way the type is angled down.

Alton Towers

Working alongside Dom Kelly we worked on a live brief from Dinosaur to rebrand and come up with a campaign for Alton Towers' halloween event. We based the event on fairy tales and looking at the original tales they have a very twisted and sinister end to them. We used shadow puppets to create the imagery as these are the tools in which tales used to be told and also created a very sinister feel to them.

Publication Workshop

These are my designs for our publication workshop where we were asked to produce designs based around the word Proclamation. Mine are based on the idea that some people still proclaim that the earth is flat despite the huge amount of evidence that suggests that it is spherical.

Ian Anderson Workshop

Do something pointless for an hour, document it and then display it.
This was our task set by Ian Anderson for our 2 day workshop. I decided to blow up balloons for an hour as it seemed pretty pointless and in a way balloons are pointless objects in themselves. After 25 mins my finger started bleeding and then i started to get light headed and felt slightly sick. The bottom image represents the feeling of light headedness. The top image represents feeling sick. On the outside the balloons are bright and playful but as you get deeper into it the balloons become dull, and horrible.

100

These posters are a response to our brief of interpreting the number 100. I based my project on the first 100 days of a new american president which is seen as a major benchmark.
The first poster in the set that explains what the posters are about without giving to much away.

Obama declares a date in which the war in Iraq will end.

Ford pardons ex-president Nixon for his part in the Watergate affair. A move which led to much critisism.

JFK orders the Bay of Pigs invasion which ended in disaster for the United States.

FDR pushed through the Emergency Banking Act, in effect saving thousands of banks from collapsing.
